I recently discovered I have high bp, I was measured 170/100 (may be I was scared at the docs office). I did all the the tests advised by my doctor, I also went through a full body check up including a tmt lest and abdominal scan etc, all parameters came out to be normal. I work out at the gym, try lifting very heavy weights, I also smoke (quit now). My doc has put me on telmikind. My blood pressure has been stable now since taking it, around 122/84 - 120/80. Can my blood pressure have been due to the strenuous work out? My lipid profile was excellent, I can run well (5k in 25 mins). Can I taper off my meds if the readings remain normal after some time?

lybrate-user, change your dosage only after your doctor's advice. Bp usually varies and increases on rigorous workouts, running etc. These are natural causes. But if your heart structure is changing due to any reason then bp can become a permanent phenomenon where medication is the only option. I would suggest you replace few days of your gym with yoga and pranayam. It shall boost your body from the inside. Don't overdo any activity. You have not mentioned your eating habits that needs to be viewed in lieu of your condition.
