I am 36 years old female from bangalore. From 2 weeks im having allergic raised rashes. It itches a lot and wherever I scratch I get those raised rashes. I took allegra m 0-0-1 as prescribed by my doctor for 5 days but it is not helping. Those raised rashes are not red its just raised rashes and disappears after 20 mins or so and again I get it elsewhere in my body. I used to get these kinda rashes before only when I eat brinjal and soyameal. But used to vanish wih just one allegra tablet. So my question is, do I have to get a blood you test done? If so then what kind of blood test? Or do I have to get any other tests? Please suggest.

You are probably suffering from what dermatologist call urticaria. Common causes are food allergy, infection or drugs taken for some condition. It presents with itching resulting in formation of red rashes which we call hives or wheals. Although in most cases cause remains unknown in spite of a thorough search. It can be treated with medicines so that you do not get any new hives. The treatment should be prolonged until it resolves which usually takes 1 to 6 months.
