I am type 2 diabetic from past 27 years. I did my last sugar test pp was 287. My doctor prescribed me istamet 100/1000 mg for one week. After completing my dose. Today I did sugar test. Fasting is 275 & pp is 377. Should I continue this medicine or stop taking it.

Hi sir, Some other medicine is to be given to you to have a good control of the blood sugar. You can talk to me after checking your hba1c level and the blood sugar levels many times.

Dear Lybrate user, I appreciate your concern with diabetes. Remember type diabetes mellitus is a chronic disease that is not curable. So the patient is supposed to be treated with medical nutritional therapy, physicial activity and medication to keep blood sugar within the controlled range. Your medication need further modification if glycemic target not achieved, for which you need to visit your diabetologist .as quite young you need a good glycemic control without any second thought.
