Hello doctor, I am suffering from ocd since 22 years & on psychiatric medicines. My ocd is manageable now. I am on delok 30 mg + hexidol 0.75 mg + zolcalm 5 mg daily. Also I am working in rotational shift duties so to avoid drowsiness, keep alert, stay motivated in working hours my doctor prescribed modafinil 50 mg. Please advice is it safe to use zolcalm 5 mg (before sleep) & modafinil 50 mg daily (before work start) for long time. I am very worried & feels guilty that I am taking these medicines daily especially zolcalm & modafinil. I know these medicine dosage are in low quantity but also very concerned about long term use & its side effects. Will these medicines damage my brain or other physical or mental problems get creates in future. Your expert advise needed. Thank you!

When you are taking them under psychiatrist supervision and regular monitoring, I guess it is safe long term. But try to strike a balance between sleep and activity, instead of zolcalm, there are lots of better alternatives. All the best.

There is nothing to worry to take this medicine. What you require is regular follow up with your doctor. People take med for heart problems, diabetes, cancer they don't feel guilty so what if you have to take medicine for your mind.
