Pedal edema is a common side effect with calcium channel blockers. Alternate would be metoprolol or a thiazide diuretic. Avoid beta blockers if you're an asthmatic. Common side effects of beta blockers are tremors and postural hypotension. Thiazide diuretic would be ideal if no other contraindication. Do consult your physician with detailed history.
