Hello, I can appreciate your concern regarding potential side effects to medication. Since your son took the prescribed medicines for 2 days only, it is unlikely to have caused any long term problems or side effects. You can consult your psychiatrist to start on a low dose of a ssri medication and titrate up gradually as tolerated to manage his mood and anxiety symptoms. Also talking therapy/ cbt will be helpful to manage difficult thoughts and develop better coping strategies. Without appropriate support, your son will get better gradually.

The medications that have been prescribed by the doctor / psychiatrist for your son are fine. Some people react differently to different medications and you might want to continue giving the medications if there are no serious side effects. The good effects of the medications take about 20-30 days for them to show up and I believe that you will be able to get over the bad effects once you start focusing on the good effects the medication is having. I also think that you should start to not read as much about the medications online as the information may not be accurate and there are many websites that are peddling allopathic or english medications as being bad and having bad effects, which is not true. If you need a second opinion, you can certainly do so online. Look forward to hearing from you.
