I am a 28-year-old male. I have inflammation in gland and foreskin of the penis which seems to be balanoposthitis. I had undergone treatment from a dermatologist 9 years ago when they prescribed clotrimazole and metarub. Now it again comes up. Is this serious? How can it be prevented?

Hello- recurrence can be avoided by following simple genital hygiene. -wash under the foreskin and around the head of the penis daily using warm water (not hot). -do not use soap. -you can use a soap-free wash such as sorbolene cream, qv wash or hamiltons wash from the chemist. -dry the head of the penis gently before you put on underpants.
