How to treat a child of 8 years who has been subjected to harsh criticism, comparisons from early age about two at home from grand parents, also mother's frustration about in-laws was vented on child. Now she has become quite aggressive and back answers them, shows obstinate behaviour, mostly sulking, also cries easily on small pretex. She is otherwise very loving, caring, understanding and sensitive kid. When she is happy laughs fully but if she doesn't get what she wants same pattern starts.

Your child has suffered a depression induced by the troubled childhood and needs counselling and supportive care. Possibly change him to a different place where he can be happy.
