My age is 43 yrs. My thyroid profile was t3-1.46, t4- 9.48 & tsh 6.68 and doctor has suggested me thyronorm 25 mg. & one calcium tablet daily for one month & now after 1.5 month I tested my thyroid lvl again. Now it is t3 - 1.47, t4 - 11.9 & tsh - 5.74. Please let me know shall I stop the thyronorm or I should continue the tablet for another month. But these days I feel some what in my head, some prickling sensation and also pain in legs sometimes. Please suggest me what should I do. Can I control my thyroid level with food control.

Mangala ji, Thanks for the query. Usually Hypothyroidism is diagnosed when TSH level crosses 10 mU/L. Between 6 to 9.9 mU/l of TSH it is considered as sub-clinical hypothyroidism and no treatment is advocated. Since TSH now is 5.74 mU/L, there is no need to take Levothyroxine. But you will have to check TSH again after 3 months to see if it has gone up. Symptoms of hypothyroidism are : weight gain, dry skin, dry hair, hair fall, tired feeling and early fatigue, intolerance to cold , muscle and joint pains and anxiety.
