I have been prescribed betacap tr 40 twice a day and zapiz. 5 mg twice a day years ago, I think more than 15 years back, by a neurosurgeon for my anxiety and tremors. My problems started improvements within days as told by the doctor. But I didn't / couldn't take it regularly due to my alcohol problems. Now I restarted the said medicines through my cghs doctors. But they're giving ciplar la 40 in place of betacap tr 40 as betacap is not available in cghs hospitals. Now my question is that whether I should take ciplar la 40 once in a day or twice a day? Earlier a psychiatrist also prescribed me ciplar la 40 once a day in place of betacap tr 40. Will the once a day ciplar la 40 will be as effective as betacap tr 40 or shall I take ciplar la 40 twice a day?

We appreciate your getting online to ask some specific questions. I know you have 2 questions that you have expressed as wanting attention and I will answer them for you. For any other queries I would want you to consult me online. Betacap tr 40 and ciplar la 40 are one and the same medicine molecule, just a different packaging and a different company. Some people are adjusted well to both medications and some may not be due to various reasons that I could explain personally. The second question is whether you need to take the medication twice daily like you were doing before. To this I am unsure why you are only focusing on one medicine. This is because you were given two medicines to be taken twice daily. This may have been related to the level of anxiety that you may have had at that time. If you believe that you are anxious only in the mornings, only a morning dose of medication will do. However, you certainly need to consult a psychiatrist before taking the medication, if the doctor who prescribed you the medications did not do so with giving you directions for so many reasons that cghs doctors have limitations, just the sheer number of patients they see on a day to day basis. Look forward to hearing from you.
