Last month 27 feb, 2015 I did ceramic braces on my teeth, my dentist extract for teeth forth from both side up and down. Inner side of my lips some wound which is paining like hell, teeth too paining. I can't eat satisfactory because of pain, my docter suggested me ooORASEP-LA gel to apply on my inner lips, m applying every after one hour from 3 days, no use please suggest

Please take a strong pain killer and visit him once. Pain should not be there till now. U can put some salt in hot water and gargle.

Hello.Generally during orthodontic t/t due to nickel titanium wire many a times cheek gets injured.Also first time users have pain for few days with their teeth because of the force exerted by the appliance.Generally applying any over the counter gels soothes it, if the soreness persists for more days you can see your dentist again n he would give wax for local application at the site of braces n it would heal.No pain killers are given as they have anti inflammatory properties which halts the tooth movement.

Don't worry that's a normal phenomenon it happens initiallly . Ask your orthodontist for some relieve was to get the share edges masked. It will be better for your lips

Dear , The pain on the lip may be due to some part of the braces irritating or ulcerating the lip. Apart from using orasep la, u can use a gum to stick on the part of braces hurting u. It will help. Thanks & healing regards.

From your Q it appears to be a case of dry socket. Generally this happens if the pt does not follow the post extraction instructions duly well. Do have the same reviewed by your Orthodontist every 3 to 4 days. He may also revert back to thinner wires until your problem becomes ok. It may take anything from 14 to 20 days to subside if it is a case of dry socket.

Pain n discomfort after extraction is common for at least 2-3 days. Plus, the new braces which u put on may be irritating ur oral mucosa, which will subside in about 4-5 days at the max. So, do not take hot or even warm foods. Take foods at room temp or preferably cold. Your dentist must have prescribed some antibiotics n painkillers. Additionally, take Actiheal-D tabs for 3 days for faster healing. Also, after placing braces, pain n discomfort for about a week is natural due to teeth moving to a new position.
