Hi doctor, how much time pexep (paroxetine) takes for social anxiety as today is my 10 th day of taking pexep cr 25 mg but still there is no improvement seen.

Such people improve with minimal dose and some require high doses or some may not show any effect when taken this medication. Hello, any psychiatric medicine takes minimum to 2-3, weeks or even more, you can consult the same with your current doctor. But I really want to know if along with medicines you are taking up counseling therapies? It's equally important and necessary to address your social anxiety. Medicines shall only control your physical symptoms and calm you but it will not be effective if you do not take proper counseling. These therapies shall address your thoughts your feelings and emotions and make you self aware about the same during social interactions. Kindly consult a psychologist for the same a request. It usually takes around 2 to 3 weeks for any SSRI to work at the level of response to emotional symptoms, however if you believe it has worked but not as much - which is termed response (and not remission) - then it is advisable to titrate the dose of the medication under the supervision of a psychiatrist.
