I am on paroxetine 75 and bupropion 300 mg for anxiety and dysphoria. I was also diagnosed with ocd but paroxetine helped me a lot. I was recently prescribed (flupentixol + melitracen) tablet twice daily for the betterment of mood and anxiety. I just wish to know does this medicine also reduce the chain of thoughts cause by ocd like antipsychotic. Since flupentixol is a typical antipsychotic. Thank you. Do not wish to go for therapy.

Dear Lybrate-user, flupenthixol in low dose works as an anxiolytic. But why use an antipsychotic for anxiety? Melitracen is not approved in india as an antidepressant. So this combination drug itself is banned in india (earlier deanxit). Please continue paroxetine and bupropion. If paroxetine is helpful, there is no need for therapy since it is costly in time and money.

for better out come need to be increased dose of SSRI & BT( Behaviour therapy).
