My sister has been prescribed oliza 10 mg by her psychiatrist. She is also a diabetic and her blood sugar is not in control. It is very high. I have read that diabetic person should not take this medicine. It can even lead to hyperosmolar coma and even death. Should I still give her this medicine or not. Her age is 52 years. Please advice.

Hello, thanks for the query. I have read the information written. Please understand no doctor will prescribe a drug which has such serious side effects. Olanzepine is by and large a very safe drug. It is used for psychiatric conditions. So if prescribed needs to be taken. Plus it is very important to keep diabetes in good control. There is no mention about that. I hope her blood glucose levels are in good control. Thanks.
