I am dealing with anxiety disorders from last two and half months. Firstly I went for ayurvedic medicine. But it didn't work well to me. Then I met a psychiatrist and she diagnosed me with anxiety problem plus depression as I had some phobias etc and feeling very sad. She recommended me mirtazapine 30 mg at night .zapiz .5 mg at night and ambulax two times a day i.e. Morning and afternoon. I was taking these medicines since 3 august. Yesterday I visited to her and she advised me not to take zapiz and ambulax on my own will. Ie if I feel anxious then I can take it. Last night I didn't take zapiz and today ambulax. I am not feeling anxious but my heart rate is 93 bpm .and some nervousness is also there. Is it okay. Sadness is totally gone.

Hello lybrate-user - your psychiatrist has given you good advice - mirtazepine 30 mgs is an effective medication for treating both anxiety and depression. You need to continue taking it daily for atleast 6 months, possibly bit longer even though you feel better - zapiz (clonazepam) 0.5 mgs and ambulax (alprozolam & propranolol) are meant for short term use if managing anxiety. After a month, it is not recommended to take it daily. You can take it sos as needed if you are feeling anxious. If feeling settled, you can gradually stop zapiz and ambulax but continue mirtazepine - also learn relaxation strategies like yoga, deep breathing, etc. It will be helpful take care.

for anxiety mirtazapine will work, for worsening of anxiety you can take zapiz. ambulax is an antihypertensive and needs to be taken after cardiac evaluation. Also, though mirtazapine works for anxiety it is not the drug of first choice. SSRI or SNRI will be. I suggest you to have second opinion nearby. All the best.
