I am advised to take medicine such as prolomet am 50 and pinom 20 mg to treat my blood pressure. Before medical my pressure was 140/100 and by continuing the medicine it is at normal 120/90. I have reduced the dose by half as prolomet am 25 and pinom 10 mg and by bp reading shows normal. Is there any reduction of dose available apart from this level of medicine and how can I know when to stop the medicine.

Hi. Thank you for your question. If your blood pressure is controlled on the current medication, then that is great! Studies now show that keeping your blood pressure at 120/80 can reduce your chance of a heart attack by nearly 30%. So if your current medicines are doing that then I would suggest continuing them, along with a low salt diet and regular exercise. If the blood pressure lowers a lot, then please speak to your doctor about reducing the tablets.

Please don't reduce dosage. The BP medicine helps in maintaining BP at that level. It does not cure it. BP will increase if reduce dose.
