Hello Sumit - You are right in reporting that Ativan(lorazepam) is not helpful in this situation as it causes physical and psychological dependence on long term use. - How much Ativan are you taking at present ? You need to taper it down slowly over a period of several months so that you can avoid withdrawal symptoms. Say for example if you are taking 1 mgs daily, you can cut down to 0.75 mgs daily for a month , then cut down to 0.5 mgs for the next month, cut down further to 0.25 mgs for a month and then stop if you are feeling ok. You need to go back to the original dose if you are developing any withdrawal symptoms. If you are on a higher dose, withdrawal can be potentially dangerous due to risk of seizures, etc. You are advised to seek medical guidance for detox in your city so that you can be monitored during withdrawal period. Take care
