I was put on 50 mg of levothyroxine over 5 months ago. I have not noticed any changes. Today I ran across an article about hashimoto which relates to the thyroid. Reading the symptoms feel like this is possibly something I could have. Is it common to have both and only one be diagnosed?

Hello, Thanks for the query. Madam Hashimoto's Thyroiditis (HT) is an autoimmune disease leading to hypothyroidism. Symptoms of both the conditions are same. Treatmennt also is taking adequate dosage of levothyroxine and maintaining TSH around 3 to 4 mU/L. Some persons may have HT leading to hypothyroidism and others may have hypothyroidism without HT. Thanks.
