I am aged 69 years is suffering with diabetes since 27 years and with essential hypertension since 20 years, my recent diabetic profile is when in normal limits hb1ac 6.5 ser creatinine 0.99. Tsh 5.5 lipid hepatic profiles and all other blood parameters are with normal limits I am on inj mixtard hm 30 penfil b.dgibtulio10 mg od, in the morning istamet 50/500 od at bed time along with antihypertensive treatment since 4 years without side effects, and diabetic complications, my doubt is how many years can I continue istamet and gibtulioif all diabetic profiles are within normal limits. What are the contraindication to discontinue those drugs. Please mention blood parameter values to discontinue those drugs thanking you doctor.

You can continue your medicines as long as your blood sugar levels are in acceptable range ie. Fasing blood sugar around 100, pp blood sugar around 150 and hba1c around 7.
