I am put on depran forte 0-0-1 (escitalopram oxalate 20 mg + 0.5 mg clonazepam) for depression/anxiety/panic attacks. There is relief, but there will be depression in the mornings. Hence, I intend to take nexito 10 mg 1-0-0. This is a ssri anti-depressant (serotonin chemical) and by taking a total of 30 mg (10 mg 1-0-0 and 20 mg 0-0-1) wlll there be an excess of serotonin chemical causing serotonin syndrome? Please confirm.

Ideally for indians 20 mg is more than enough sir. 30 mg is unlikely to provide more relief. Please ask your psychiatrist to augment the same with either a mood stabilizer or a low dose atypical antipsychotic. These are the usual strategies followed. And with 30 mg, more than serotonin syndrome you will have other side effects, so please consult a psychiatrist for augmentation with other drugs.

Deoran has 20 mg of escitalopram while nexito 10 has the same in 10 mg dose. The dose change kindly discuss with your psychiatrist. If you are feeling comfortable with lesser dose and able to carry on daily activities it can be done. Good luck.
