Dear sir, one of my relative is around 17 years old. She is female. Doctor suggested her to take citadep 10 mg medicine for depression she has taken 2 dose till now. After taking first dose she was feeling an illusion about that her hairs became short and dryness in mouth. And after taking second dose immediately she told that she was feeling sleepy. Please suggest to continue this medicine or if we stop it than what side effects will be?

Continue with half dose for a week when she feels conformable increase the dose to one tablet. Such side effects may happen with few patients during starting phase of this medication but that does away in few days. All the best

Dear lybrate-user, citadep 10 mg may cause some amount of dryness of mouth and sleepiness. She may get used to it, as she continues to take. If she is very much disturbed, let her consult the doctor again. There are many different types of antidepressants. One of them may suit her better. You can stop citadep without any side effects - but her original disorder will continue its own course.

Was the doctor a psychiatrist, if so kindly take at 5 mg for first 2 weeks then make it 10 mg, after consulting a psychiatrist. 10 mg is too high a dose to start immediately, and the effects are due to medication, but they would stop on reducing or stopping, so ask her not to worry. Good luck.
