Beta blockers only treat the physical symptoms of anxiety .for the psychological symptoms of anxiety such as worries, irritability, fatigue, sleep issues, mood problems etc, you will need an ssri class of drug. Usually, sertraline is preferred in cardiac patients. Do discuss with your psychiatrist and cardiologist and start appropriate treatment. Also once treatment is started, you can also consult a psychologist for management of anxiety by cbt.

Beta blockers apart from anxiety can lower the blood pressure. So please check with your physician for the same. There are other tablets apart from beta blockers for the same problem for which you should consult the psychiatrist.
