I am a diabetic my mother/brother/sister and my dad who died of diabetes. We all my brother, sister and me have high blood pressure and diabetes and we have diabetes around 280 to 350. I just want to know what should we eat and what not .we are non vegetarian. I in a week take 3 time alcohol have 2 times tea with sugar free and one time with sugar but I drink lot of water I eat vegetables don't walk at all because I don't get time but I do all my house work by myself. But I don't get proper sleep if I sleep for 2 hours in the afternoon then in the night I don't get sleep. I am under a very good diabetelogy morning before breakfast I take 15 mg insulin and at night 6 mg and 4 /4 tablets morning and night and so my diabetes doesn't go high it in level. But how can I be diabetes and pressure in control without medicine.

Following are my observations: 1) in a person with well controlled diabetes, fasting glucose should be < 100 mg or closer to 100 mg, pp 150 to 170 mg & hba1c% < 6.8%. You have not mentioned hba1c% at all. 2) for a person with diabetes regular walking every day for 1 hour or some other exercise like going to gym is a must. There is no option at all. 3) taking alcohol regularly is not advised at all in a person with diabetes. 4) properly planned diet providing exact amount of calories based on ideal body weight is needed. 4) as regards controlling diabetes without taking any medication is almost impossible.
