I went into depression because of continuous bullying of my hostel mates for 2 years. My parents observed that and took me to hospital where I admitted for 2 weeks. My situation got better and I started using tablets like ivox, sizodon and admenta to get even better. Now I am feeling well but my parents are still using those tablets because of which I am getting side effects like weak memory, feeling sleepy, lack of concentration on studies. I asked them to stop using tablets but they are listening. They stopped giving admenta tablet as I complained that I feel sleepy. My mom thinks that I will get mad if they stopped using tablets. Can I stop using tablets?

Do not you think your doctor will guide you best and yes medicine have to go on for a duration like 6 months or 1 year else you can relapse. For any effect that it's causing you can consult your psychiatrist to revise medicine all the best.

Dear, you must be able to distinguish between mental disease and mental disorder. Your problem is a mental disorder. Not a mental disease. These mental disorders are usually treated with a combination of medicines and other means like awareness, meditation, psychotherapy techniques, life style changes etc. I think two or three counseling sessions and psychotherapy techniques should solve your problem. Let me know if you are willing to undergo counseling sessions and tailor made psychotherapy through mobile. Take care.
