I have been to my family dr, had two different x rays done one on back and one on shoulder, pain is getting worse its in the upper spine and shoots jolts down both arms now if I cough raise my voice bend down, the pain is horrible, if I go to emergency will the do a ct scan and will that show disc, muscles, ect. I am waiting on the orthopedic surgeon to call to set up appointment but its been a week since the referral and I can not take this pain any longer ive been taken ib 800's gabapentin, and flexeril, the pain is unbearable. What will the emergency room do if I go in? I have to do something.

You will be subjected to examination by an expert, which usually is an orthopedic surgeon. You may need an mri of your spine to rule out the causes of your pain and radiation. Thanks.
