I most frequently suffer from nocturnal leg cuff muscles. When it occurs, it's very painful. Please advice. I am diabetic. Taking pioz mfg 2 mg once in the morning. Trinerve lc one tab daily at 2 pm and mahagaba m75 once at 9 pm.

Mr. lybrate-user kumar, thanks for the query. As I understand you are talking about nocturnal cramps in the calf (gastronemius). These cramps are quite common. There is no specific remedy. However, one needs to take regular vitamin d3 and also calcium supplements. Most important is to achieve a strict glucose control. Fasting glucose should be < 100 mg or closer to 100 mg. Pp 150 to 170 mg & hba1c% < 6.5%. You have just mentioned about drugs being taken, but there is no information on glucose levels, hba1c%, dietary pattern & extent of daily exercise. Looking at your weight and height with a bmi of 26.56 kgs (normal < 23 kgs/sq meter), you are quite over weight. Your ideal body weight should be about 59 to 60 kgs. Is ur blood sugar under control. It can be caused by Overuse of a muscle, dehydration, muscle strain or simply holding a position for a prolonged period can cause a muscle cramp. First, stop doing whatever triggered the muscle spasm then: Gently stretch and massage the spasmodic muscle. Hold it in a stretched position until the spasms stop. Apply cold to sore/tender muscles or heat to tense/tight muscles. Drink plenty of water every day to stay hydrated. Do regular flexibility exercises before and after you work out.
