Oral steroid should be avoided in case of infection until absolutely indicated.

Hi lybrate-user, doxylin (doxycycline) is an antibiotic and decortin (prednisolone) is a steroid. You can use both together. Better you take an antacid along with it. I hope you are on some nasal drops also which will help to improve your ear infection.
