I'm 29 years old. Having types 2 diabetes from may 2018. On 30th dec 2019, I had sudden palpitations where my heartbeat went 150-160 per minute. For which the doctor said everything is fine in ecg it might be because of gas/acidity. On 17 apr 2020 I again had same palpitations, my bp was 140/70 and pulse was 155 and I felt a bit of dizziness with sweating doctors said the same and even my troponin I test was also negative (0.01). And now cardiologist has given me few medicines for a weeks time which includes ecosprin, pantocid, telma-am. And now I still have gas issues, whole day anytime I fart and burp. Sometime my stomach feels a bit disturbed/pains a bit from left/right/up/down anywhere. And from last 4-5 days my left shoulder, left hand, left upper back is feeling numb. Is it because of the gastric issues or are there any chances that I can have any heart disease. Even my echo test was also normal in the month of february. Pls guide me on the same.

As I would like to know about your diabetic medicines, some medicines might cause gastric upset. And I won't think you r having any cardiac issue as per your age and echo report. So better tell your diabetic medicines first.

Hi, first of all no need to panic, during the time of palpitations, what were your sugars. Has the cardiologist seen your ecg. If both sugars and ecg were normal, no need to worry. Will treat your gastritis and keep you on closer follow up especially your sugar level.

Please don't panic. Using metformin might sometimes cause gi upset but it's not advisable to stop metformin altogether. You can always change to a sustained release preparation & as a single dose after dinner if possible (shouldn't be greater than 1 gram) which reduces the gi disturbance. It's unlikely that metformin is causing hypoglycemia. You need to perform a s. Tsh ,free t4 & consult with a physician or endocrinologist. Cardiac abnormalities are rather bleak possibility.
