I am diabetic for 15 years managed so for with diet exercise and one 500 mg metformin. However last 1 year my sugar was not in control and hb1ac has crossed 9. So I started using metformin+ glimepiride 0.5 mg. (glycometgp0. 5 sr). I am also a gerd patient chronic and using esomat 20 mg once in two days. However after taking this tablet sugar is getting controlled but my left and right lower back is continuously paining and at times stomach pain.

Hi Mr. lybrate-user it's noted from your history that, you have uncontrolled type 2 diabetes since last few months. Now after drug modification it's getting controlled as per your history. It's unlikely that the above mentioned tablet to cause symptoms mentioned. Please rule out urinary tract infections, kidney stones, by doing a urine routine examination. Acidity is commonly caused by metformin which was in both tablets, hence abdominal pain may not be due to new tablet. Even lower lumbar vertebrae spondylosis can be symptomatic in same way. I would suggest to repeat hba1c and ppbs to know the sugar control. Advised: s.creatinine sgpt hba1c urine routine ppbs suggestion is to change esomat 20 to cap pantocid dsr 1-0-1 (before food) x14 days which may compat gerd too. If low back pain persists I would suggest an in person consultation for physical examination.

It seems that these could be symptoms of gerd. I would recommend to change esoz 20 to cap esoz - dsr one before breakfast and one before dinner for one month. This may help you. Continue diabetes medicines as it is as your sugars are normal.
