Hello Mr. lybrate-user. For your symptoms you have to take regular medications. Also stop doctor shopping means changing many doctors. Follow only one psychiatrist and give time to that medication. Alprazolam won't help you much. It will addict you. Feel free to consult me anytime. Your symptoms will get time to resolve with regular medications.

Hello Raja - If you are experiencing obsessive & repetitive thoughts , it may be be associated with excessive anxiety/OCD - Alprazolam is not recommended for long term use - You can consult a doctor to consider SSRI medication which can be helpful in OCD - Cognitive Behavioural Therapy/CBT will also be helpful Take care

Alprazolam deals with anxiety as a result of obsession. It does not cure the cause of obsession, which is due to serotonergic (a neurotransmitter) changes in your brain (mind). Also on longer run alprazolam causes serious side effects. So consult a psychiatrist and seek proper remedy. Good luck.

Hi sir, i'm sorry to hear about your distress. I am not sure if you were prescribed only alprazolam because it is generally given along with other classes of antidepressants such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors for obsessions and repetitive thinking. Though alprazolam may help with anxiety, it is not the main treatment and is rarely prescribed alone. I have not heard of alprazolam causing heart attacks though there is a relationship between blood pressure and alprazolam. Please do not use the medicine on your own without doctor's orders as it is habit forming, and may lead to a risk of dependence/addiction. There are many medications that help with obsessions, please stick to one psychiatrist and take the medications as advised. Do not take the medications intermittently and do not stop the medication without asking your psychiatrist. Medicines along with psychotherapy will give you the optimum results.

Hello lybrate-user ji, obsessive compulsive disorder takes some time to go. Along with the medicines you have to take cognitive behavioural therapy. Have some patience with the treatment, it is of long duration but it gets cured with time. Thanks and regards.
