I am 36 year old and a diabetic for the past 4 years. I went through acute pancreatitis surgery in 2012. My sugar was raise to 500+ in june 2018. Doctor advised me triglimisave 2 twice a day before meal. Jalra 50 mg twice a day after meal and oxra 10 mg at afternoon 2 pm. It controlled my sugar. Since my levels were in control so I made a mistake and stopped taking medicine. Now my sugar again raised. It's 160 in fasting and 340 after having meal. I am worried about the bump of 180 in my levels. Please suggest appropriate medicine to reduce the levels.

Dear lybrate-user, according to your history of pancreatitis, you should be careful regarding managing your diabetes as pancreas is the organ which produces insulin in the body, which control our blood sugar levels. As you are having a spike in blood sugar level at present, I would advise you should consult your doctor personally and get your physical status examined properly before starting any medicines. Mr. lybrate-user, thanks for the query. I am surprised to know that you stopped the treatment without consulting your doctor. Please understand diabetes can only be controlled with proper drugs, diet control and exercise as well as weight control. Stopping the treatment will lead to very high blood glucose. It is necessary for you to go back to your treatment. To suggest any drugs I need to know the following:: fasting, pp glucose, hba1c%, dietary pattern, extent of daily exercise, lipid profile and bp readings. If your previous medicines have controlled blood sugars well, please continue the same and follow strict diet and exercise. You can again check the blood sugars after 2 weeks. If they are high, consult your doctor.
