I am a glaucoma patient since a year .i used lumigan0. 01%.now lumigan0. 01%is unavailable in my place .lumigan 0.03%is available. May I use it? What is the substitute eye drop of lumigan0. 01%?

Yes u can use Lumigan 0.03% untill such time that u get the other one.

The active molecule in lumigan is bimatoprost. And various pharmaceutical companies produce them in 2 different strength - 0.01% and 0.03% to answer your specific concern, more detailed information is required about your glaucoma history. How long have you been diagnosed with glaucoma? Do you see a glaucoma specialist regularly? Ideally, your ophthalmologist should have defined a target pressure range for you, below which your glaucoma progression is unlikely. Does your intraocular pressure (iop) stays below your target pressure with lumigan 0.01%? Do you experience any adverse reactions or side effects with the use of lumigan 0.01%? Lumigan 0.03% has a higher concentration of the drug bimatoprost, and while high drug concentration helps decreasing iop more than the lower 0.01%, it also has more potential risk of adverse effects. So, if your pressure is well controlled with a 0.01% drug, I would not recommend increasing the concentration. There are a few different alternate companies which produce bimatoprost 0.01%, some of which are bimate ls (ajanta pharma), lowprost (cipla), bimapix (fdc). However, different companies have different formulation and manufacturing process and their pharmacological actions and side effects vary from company to company for the exact same chemical molecule. So, my answer here is not to be intended as a prescription, but rather you should consult your ophthalmologist/glaucoma specialist and ask him about these alternatives i've mentioned. He should be able to help you suggest one based on your clinical profile. After you start a new drops, you should have your iop monitored frequently (i.e. Weekly for first 2 weeks, then monthly for 3 months) to ascertain that you iop does remain below the target range and is not damaging your optic nerve. Yes madam. You can. Use that .only thing is it is more concentrated. Since rather than skipping the usage of lumigan 0.01 % you can use 0.03%.but you need to get iop checked after the lockdown gets over and purchase 0.01% drops as the side effects will be slightly more with concentrated ones. How much is your intra ocular pressure with this medication and can you provide your latest visual field analysis? Sometimes changing the brand also causes fluctuation in intra ocular pressure. So based on your iop and vision ,degree of field loss we can change the brand and you need to get followed up.

You can use lumigan 0.03 pc drops. Other options are travatan eye drops. Also show to local eye doctor or us for eye pressure check up if that has not been done.
