Dear lybrate-user, hba1c 7.3 is definitely diabetic stage. You have associated condition of asthma along with hypertension and hypothyroidism. Here I want you to check with your doctor that are you taking any medicines for asthma recently. Some of medicines prescribed for asthmatic attacks can result high blood sugar level also. Please rule out that first. And here also certain other factors to consider that about your height, weight, bmi, family history of diabetes, etc. You can contact me for detailed consultation on this platform. Take care.

Hi, what you have is an early diabetes. Better to follow additional exercise routine and lifestyle change. Keep checking your sugars both fasting and post breakfast every 6 weeks. Not very sure on ayurvedic drugs efficacy and safety.

Hello, Thanks for the query. I have seen the details given. Since you have started treatment as suggested by the doctor, please continue that. Then check glucose levels after about 10 days (fasting and PP). If levels are in control, then continue the same drugs. Ideally FBG should be < 100 mg or closer to 100 mg, PP 150 to 170 mg & HbA1c% <6.5%. HbA1c% will change only after about 3 months. Since there is no mention about your weight, height, dietary pattern and extent of daily exercises no further comments can be made. In diabetes diet restriction, weight control and regular exercises play a very vital role than just the drugs. Thanks.

You should start strict diet and exercise for 3 months. You can continue your ayurvedic medicines. Check hba1c after 10 weeks. If it still more than 7, then you can start allopathic medicine.
