Good day! I have type 1 diabetes. I use long-acting insulin "lantus" I want to switch to "basalog" but there is little information on it. How to choose the right dose? Is it possible to start with 1 unit. To 1 unit?

Hi, lanctus and basalog are one and the same. Both are the different brands of the same drug glargine. U can continue basalog at the same dose you previously taking lanctus, provided your sugar levels are controlled before.

Initially you switch to 1 to 1 unit which means same dose as that of lantus. You can titrate the dose depending on your blood sugars regularly. It is advised to check blood sugars more frequently once you change the brand and dose is settled down.

Hello, Thanks for the query. Basalog is same as the other insulin as it contains same glargine 100 iu in 1 ml. So dosage will remain same as of now, It is also available in pens. Thanks.

It's generic version of lantus. Dose conversion is 1 unit lantus equals 1 unit basalog. Some patients do develop high sugars after changing from lantus to basalog. So adjust dose after changing insulin based on your fasting sugars.

Lantus contain glargine and basalog also contain glargine so u can use in 1=1 manner!
