Dear lybrate-user, it is good that vinod is taking tablets regularly and his problems decreased. Weight gain is one of the side effect of zisper plus and risdone 4 mg. You and vinod should work on that aspect so that these effective tablets can be continued for many more years. Try to consult a dietician so that vinod can alter his diet and exercise more regularly. Please discuss with your psychiatrist also who may reduce the dose of risperidone or change to weight neutral antipsychotics. But how effective they will be - needs wait and watch attitude.

Dear lybrate-user I think your husband is taking same medicine in different brand name with lower dose and these medicine may cause weight gain. Better to do daily exercise for one hour daily to control weight gain apart from diet control. I am sure that reducing or stopping medicine means relapse of symptoms. Please ask your doctor what he can do apart from medicine such as practice of psychological technique and for side effect.
