My father has type 2 diabetes and was prescribed glyciphage g1 table once a day since until the location began he had pain in nerve in left shoulder and due to lack of work his blood sugar rose to 240 before taking food and 340 after. Similar report was relieved when checked again. The doctor consulted prescribed morning dose of glycomet 500 mg tab, mid day dose of 1 tab of voglidib 03 and glycomet gp2 and a single tab of glycomet gp2 at night. Looking at such high doses thrice a day i'm concerned a bit about stress on his organs kindly suggest.

Hello, Thanks for the query. I have seen the details given. Before I make any comments or give a suggestion, following details are required : 1)What is the age of the patient. 2) Weight & height , extent of daily exercise and dietary pattern in details. 3) Recent or current HbA1c%, lipid profile and BP readings. 4) Serum creatinine and urea. As regards the medicines prescribed there is nothing like "high doses", in fact the voglibose needs to be given with every meal including breakfast & dinner. With the change of medication how is his glucose level now? Please come back with these details. Ideally fasting glucose should be < 100 mg or closer to 100 mg, PP should be 150 to 170 mg & HbA1c% <6.8%. Thanks.
