I am 32 year old male with symptoms of adhd, I consulted two psychiatrists so far and both of them prescribed a combination of zurpion and cloba 5.previously I had consulted doctors online who accepted I have adhd and prescribed me attentrol (cannot tolerate) and inspiral (pharmacy demanded hard-copy of prescription) I have read extensively about adhd and I am fairly certain that I have it. My current doctor says I have a chemical imbalance in brain and it will take some time to be rectified. I am very much confused with these conflicting diagnosis and I don't even have the willpower to explain all these to another doctor, please provide me with some insights on why this different diagnosis happen and if possible suggest me how to proceed.

Didn't get your problem clearly. By different diagnosis, you mean adhd & 'chemical imbalance' if that is so, adhd is a result of many neuronal changes, and chemical imbalance (which is essentially alterations in neurotransmitter levels and other things) is one of the factors. So, these are not different diagnosis. Yes, you could have adhd. But, at 32, your adhd would be diagnosed as adult adhd, and for that you will need to have adhd symptoms in your childhood. Adult adhd typically has attention deficit, but less hyperactivity. What is confusing me is that - if you have adhd symptoms, and you also read extensively about adhd, you might not have dysfunction due to typical lack of attention. Your question here is long, has proper grammar, syntax, clarity, and almost no spelling mistakes. This again reiterates what I just wrote. For how to proceed, you should get a face-to-face physical consultation with a psychiatrist, accompanied by a close family member (for your childhood history), and then get evaluated & diagnosed. Â

Hi lybrate-user. I understand how these different opinions can make you quite confused and worried about your wellbeing. While adhd is a psychiatric diagnosis, "chemical imbalance in the brain" seems like a very vague phrase. What is helpful is reach out to a licensed and trusted psychiatrist and continue with the prescribed medication by that doctor. Complete your dosage and follow up again to discuss about your symptoms. You can additionally go for individual therapy with a licensed therapist to recognise and address these symptoms and the thoughts, feelings and behaviours associated with them. You can reach out to a therapist in your city. You could also reach out to us at url/book-a-session/ to book a session. We are available for online sessions. Hope this helps, rashid! take care! Â

Hello! I understand that you have a number of doctors and psychologists for your health problem. You are taking medicines from the psychiatrists. It is good that it will be helpful to you. But, psychiatric medicines have side effects sometimes. First of all, I think that you have to maintain a routine life everyday. Eat and sleep well. Besides, try to concentrate on certain activities you like much. Do some exercises regularly. You select a person liked by you. You need to share your feelings - positive and negative both to the person you like much. Do engage some activities you really enjoy to do. More suggestions/advice you can also consult me. Â
