I am 19 years old and taking fluvator 100 since the last two years. My doctor said that it is only 1 year course for you but now 2 years have been past. When I should recover. Also when I leave this medicine for one week all symptoms attack on me.

Difficult to say when would you recover; depends upon other factors like type of obsessions & compulsions, social factors, familial factors, stressors, insight into illness etc. Ideally 1 year course might have been sufficient, but it's not universal - varies from person to person. As you told that stopping medicine for 1 week brings back the symptoms, you have not recovered completely, and atleast another 6 months or more might be needed to assess whether medicines can be stopped. Just another thing - start erp/cbt sessions with a psychologist along with the medicine. The combined treatment generally works better in the long run, and might have lower chances of recurrence of the symptoms.

Hello lybrate-user. Your recovery not only depend on the medications but also on your thought processes and emotions. You might have noticed the aggravation in your symptoms when you are sad, tensed or anxious. Try to relax by doing exercises or yoga or different relaxation techniques and do things which make you happy. As medications with cognitive therapy enhances the rate of recovery, better you should consult a clinical psychologist too for therapy sessions.

Hi lybrate-user! I understand how this whole situation can be frustrating for you. I'm wondering if it would be in your best interest to seek emotional support at this point and follow up with your psychiatrist. Medications are essential in the control of symptoms and are of absolute importance. However, long standing depression may require therapy to work through it. Your therapist would help you to bring the thoughts and emotions triggering the depression, to your awareness and help you process them in a safe environment. So you learn to challenge the thoughts and behaviours perpetuating the symptoms in the first place. You can reach out to a trusted therapist in your city. You can also book a session with us at url/book-a-session/ we are available for online sessions. Hope this helps! take care!
