I stepped on a nail in my yard 25 says ago. I am feeling some pain in my right leg. Sometimes I take erythromycin and feel a bit better, but afterwards the pain comes back. I can get a tetanus vaccine shot from a pharmacy. Is this recommended? What else can be done? Info: there is very little or. No swelling on the leg. I am not showing any common symptoms of tetanus infection, except for the mild pain in my legs I also have azithromycin. Can this be used? Thanks for the help!

Hello lybrate-user thanks for reaching out. 25 days is a long time after the injury to get a tetanus shot. When was the last time you got a tetanus shot? Erthromycin is an antibiotic, not to be taken on and off casually, you would do more harm than good. I would like to know more about your symptoms and a clinical picture of your leg, specially at the site of injury would be very helpful in advising you appropriately.
