My father had pp sugar level 350+ for more than one month and taking lantus insulin 14 unit once a day. Now for last 10 days, his sugar is under control and pp is under 150. Should he avoid now insulin dose completely or reduce the dose of insulin?

Hello, Thanks for the query. I have seen the details mentioned. In those there is no mention of fasting glucose level as well HbA1c%. Just mentioning PP is not enough to give any advice. Plus PP 150 mg shows he has achieved good control. Therefore, he has to continue the same treatment. Another aspect there is no mention of any other oral tablets being taken for glucose control. Ideally FBG should be closer to 100 mg & PP should be 150 to 170 mg & HbA1c% < 6.8 or 7. Patients age also not mentioned So no further comments. Thanks.

Hi, I had answered your other question definitely don't stop insulin, that is what helping your father's diabetes. Monitor weight, see for any abdominal disturbance and keep a track of sugars every 15 days respond back probably with more details or a audio consultation for rationalising the drugs.
