Hello, thanks for the query. I have seen the details given. I can see that the condition is really tough. You are already on multiple oral drugs and three doses of insulin. In your case it is better if you consult a local physician who can be regularly able to assess the condition and take necessary corrective steps then and there. Online consultation is not going to so helpful. Because your glucose needs to be monitored more closely. In fact there is continuous glucose monitoring system called "libre pro" where a sensor (in a patch) is attached to your arm. It monitors blood glucose for 24 hours with 96 readings in a day, which the doctor can see on the device that he has and also on computer and then one can look at which time glucose goes too high or too low and insulin dosage then can be adjusted. This will really help you. So please ask your physician about this. The product belongs to abbott labs libre pro. Thanks.

Dear lybrate-user, I am sorry to hear about your disabilities after the above knee amputation and osteoarthritis of the other knee. Weight gain in this situation is due to severe reduction in physical activity. To some extent you can compensate by exercising your arms, abdominal muslces and back muscles systematically. To control your sugars better you can try the following if your fasting values are > 120 and pp values go above 180, reduce the quantity of carbohydrate (rice, wheat, rava, maida) in each meal and increase the quantity of protein (dhal, soya, egg white, fish or chicken. Monitor blood sugars with glucometer as follows. Fasting and pp on wednesday and 2 hour after lunch and after dinner on sunday and maintain a record. If in spite of dietary adjustment your sugar levels continue to be high and if your hba1c is more than 8 % seek a consultation to adjust your anti-diabetic drugs regards,
