I am a 53 years old male with gad with depression, used to take psychiatry drugs for many years, off and on, since the age of 22. At the age of 50 I stopped all psychiatric drugs, which included antidepressants, benzos & psychotic drugs and replaced them with vitamin d3 of 20000 iu + magnesium + vitamin k under guidance of vitamin d council of Dr. John cannell. Everything was going smoothly smoothly for more than 2 years then I decided to stop vitamin d3 to check how long it takes for me to again need it, that was in dec 2019. After 3 months or so I started getting occasional panic attacks back but as I was trying to buy vitamin d3 I couldn't get my usual brand due to lighten, meanwhile I tried other brands but none of them were effective, this only increased my anxiety. Thinking that vitamin d3 I was taking was not sufficient I started taking vitamin d3 6 lac iu ampoules orally, after every week to 10 days I kept taking these ampoules. After that something terrible happened. I started getting disoriented, severe back pain, lower back mostly and even other parts of body became painful, calf muscles would pain, and out of the blue I got a spike in blood pressure in last week tuesday night while I was sleeping, I was worried and I believed this was something to do with high dose of vitamin d3, again thursday evening I got spike of high bp, both the time it was around 180/100-110. After meal I was getting dehydrated quickly. On friday I was advised to take stamlo 20 but I had terrible panic attack, that too during day, I rushed to nearby hospital, I went to emergency ward where they took my ecg which turned out to be normal, problem was high pulse and bp due to panic attack. They gave me anti anxiety and bp pills but I avoided taking them and instead cut down on calcium rich foods and drank lot of water. Saturday, sunday was fine. On sunday I got my blood tested and found out that lipids, thyroid, kidney tests and liver test all of them were normal only thing is vitamin d levels, as expected, were very high, 228.73 ng/ml, as good as vitamin d toxicity. Fortunately it had not affected other organs adversely. But this toxicity alone caused many other symptoms, now mind has become oriented but sever lower back ache is still there and calf muscle pain and lethargy or fatigue, also today I had 2 cups of tea in a short space and after that again there was spike in blood pressure, around 178/113. It was terrible feeling, with previous experience of stamlo 20 (panic attack), I avoided taking it and instead took etizolam which was prescribed by emergency ward in the hospital. Probably, this is all happening because of vitamin d toxicity. I never had hypertension problem until after I developed vitamin d toxicity, before lockdown, I used to cycle around town, almost 10 kms a day and on weekends even 40-50 kms, I do yoga daily. My query is, I would like to come out of vitamin d toxicity, it depletes quite quickly in me, maybe a month or two, till then want to avoid taking highly addictive hypertension and anti anxiety meds. What treatment should I go through? Also don't want to take any immune-suppressants. Also, what should I take for havoc vitamin d toxicity could be causing to my bones? Thank you so much.
