Hello, Thanks for the query. The product mentioned has no direct sugar(sucrose) but contains almost 60 g of carbohydrates for 100 g and just 20 g of protein. Therefore, when one takes that product blood glucose is bound to go up because the carbs get converted to glucose. Sugar free only means there is no sucrose. But the carbs 60 g /100 g are plenty. For building muscles and for weight gain, one should exercise well, preferably unde the guidance of a trained professional and take adequate proteins. If one likes eggs, then those are a better option as 1 egg provides almost 6 to 7 g of extremely good protein. @ to 3 eggs a day in addition to your normal planned diet is much better than the unnecessary expensive product that is being mentioned. Thanks.

You can try this - 1. 1. Don't take tea empty stomach. Eat something like a banana (if you are not diabetic). Or any seasonal fruit or soaked almonds and a glass of water first thing in the morning (within 10 mins of waking up). No only biscuits or rusk will not do. 2. Don't drink water before meals. This can fill your stomach and make it harder to get in enough calories. 3. Take your breakfast every day. Don't skip it. U can eat whatever your mother or grandparent eat in bfast. I mean to say whatever is your traditional food. If punjabi eat paratha, if belongs to south then take idli/ dosa etc. 4. Have light meals every 2 hours (in addition to your breakfast, lunch n dinner) e.g. Nariyal paani, chaach, a handful of dry fruits (eat whole fruit not juice), a handful of peanuts, seasonal fruit, a cup of curd/milk, a cheese cube/slice/ banana shake etc 5. Finish your dinner at least 2 hours before going to sleep. Take simple food like rice n dal in dinner. 7.take a lot of green vegetables n fruit. 8. Drink lot of water9. Everyday preferably sleep on same time 10. Maintain active life style. Exercise to gain weight swimming:jogging:lunges and squats:bench press:deadlifts:yoga:pull-ups:upright barbell rows and dumbbell shoulder press lifting weight is important too, so that the additional calories can be used to build muscle instead of just adding fat. 11. Don't smoke. Smokers tend to weigh less than non-smokers, and quitting smoking often leads to weight gain.

Dear lybrate-user, ensure max protein, even though it offers the convenience of a ready-to-drink shake and contains 30 grams of protein there is 1 gram of sugar per serving. It would be better to use a natural source of proteins like soya, egg white, fish or chicken. All commercial protein powders have some sugar in them try the following diet pattern if your fasting values are > 120 and pp values go above 180, reduce the quantity of carbohydrate (rice, wheat, rava, maida) in each meal and increase the quantity of protein (dhal, egg white, fish or chicken). Monitor blood sugars with glucometer as follows. Fasting and pp on wednesday and 2 hour after lunch and after dinner on sunday and maintain a record. If in spite of dietary adjustment you sugar levels continue to be high and if your hba1c is more than 8 % seek a consultation to adjust your anti-diabetic drugs
