I am a diabetic for past 12 years, taking insulin 30/70 two times, prolomet xl 25 morning and telma 40 at night, I am having erection problem so Dr. said to me to start ecosprin av 75 after lunch. Pls advice can I start?

Hello, Thanks for the query. I have seen the details given. However, I am unable to understand what is the relationship of Aspirin 75 mg with ED. ED occurs because of microvascular problem resulting in improper blood supply to penile muscles. Aspirin has absolutely no role there. One od the primary requirement is to achieve a strict blood glucose control with FBG < 100 mg or closer to 100 mg, PP 150 to 170 mg & HbA1c% <6.5%. Thanks.

Mr. lybrate-user kumar, you seem to be having type 1 diabetes from age 29. Can you let us know how well controlled your sugars are? What has been the hba1c (3 month average) in the last 1 year (usually checked once in 3-4 months) regarding your ed problem it is likely to be related to diabetes but other causes need to be excluded. Do you have children and if so how old is the last child? Did the ed problem start suddenly one day or insidiously is it progressing slowly? Do you have early morning erections when you wake up? You may need to check serum prolactin, fsh, lh and testosterone to rule out other hormonal causes for the ed let us also know if you have any chest pain on exertion or breathing difficulty to suggest heart problems regards professor m s seshadri.

Dear lybrate-user as I can see you are having long standing diabetes (insulin requiring stage) and hypertension, you are facing ed which is common in diabetes before you start treatment for the ed. Kindly concert the doctor for few more investigation and ofc's you need to have well blood sugar control.
