Taking phenytoin tablet can lead to swollen gums that is known as drug induced gingival enlargement. This can be managed by decreasing the dose of the drug you r taking for seizure or by alteration of the drug. Simultaneously oral hygiene must be maintained. Oral prophylaxis should be done. Use medicated mouthrinses. Sometimes the condition improves after these. If not then periodontal surgery like gingivectomy/ gingivoplasty will be nedded. Thanks.
