I'm 35 years old. I'm mentally abused by my spouse. He doesn't give any emotional support n financial support. I've worked at home like a servent for his sister and mother and now suffering from slip disc ongoing for the treatment and getting cured doesn't wanna spend time n money. What to do?

u need assertive training. be soft in ur words to them and be harsh through non verbal communication. try to be closer to ur husband by every means. take care. pls take med if u feel depressed

Dear Lybrate user, too much of persistent stress due to the situations in our life majorly hampers our mental health increasing the risk of mental illness. You need to attend a session with a psychiatrist or a psychologist (as per your preference) for detailed evaluation of the emotional problems so that an effective management of the same can be worked out. You should both go for marriage counseling soon. This kind of abuse is not something you can live with for the rest of your life. You could talk to someone else in his family who is an elder or important family member to intervene. If it continues, you may think of returning to your family until some assurances are given and kept. I am sure there is a woman's help group too in your city and they can come to your assistance too.
