I am non diabetic my fbs 78 mg/dl post prandial after two and half hours of meals 100. My hba1c values are tested both labs at same time. The first lab give 5.8 by analyzer. The second lab give 5.6 by hplc. Both labs give normal range that is below 6. But some doctors told below 6, some told below 5.7 is normal. Pls clarify my doubt. Regards.

Dear Mr. lybrate-user, your blood sugar values and hba1c are quite normal. There will be mild differences between labs depending upon the method used (hplc or autoanalyzer)

Hello, Thanks for the query. 1)Normal : FBG 70 to 100 mg, PP < 140 mg, HbA1c% < 5.7% 2)Pre-diabetic : FBG 101 to 125 mg, PP 141 to 199 mg, HbA1c% 5.7 to 6.4% 3)Diabetes : FBG 126 mg and above, PP 200 mg and above, HbA1c% 6.5% and above. I hope things are clear. Thanks
