Hello, Thanks for the query. I have seen the details given and do understand your concern. Please do not get worried with whatever people might be telling. Hypothyroidism is a hormone (Thyroxine) deficiency disorder. Since it is needed for multiple vital functions and metabolic processes in the body including maintaining normal menstrual cycle, normal body temperature, heart rate, skin texture, body weight and even functioning of brain and emotional control. So if our thyroid is not producing enough or nil then we need to supplement it from outside. That is the reason for taking Levothyroxine on regular basis for lifetime. There is absolutely no problem when TSH is maintained around 3 to 4 mU/L. All the symptoms are in check and that person leads an absolutely normal life. As regard the fertility issue, it is essential to maintain TSH around 2 mU/L for conception as well as through out the 9 months of gestation. If this done, there will be no problem at all. Your present TSH is not in the range mentioned above. Hence there is a need to increase the dose by 12.5 mcg per day. Then check TSH again after 6 weeks. If you have any further questions please do come back. Gluten free diet is only needed if one is allergic to that protein. Otherwise there is absolutely no need for such a diet. You have not mentioned weight and height so no idea whether you have normal weight or not.Thanks.
