I have used betnovate n for almost ten years on my face. Whenever I stopped using I got itching on my face. But now I have stopped using it but my face looks blackened due its effect. Tell me what to do.

Hi. This condition of your face is called tsdf (topical steroid dependant face) due to long term application of steroid (betnovate).in that case stop betnovate and use a moisturizer and sunscreen, take tab levocetrizine once daily at night .if you feel excessive burning itching and redness after stopping of betnovate den you may need to start topical low potent steroid like desonide in tapering doses (better you start this after proper examination by a dermatolgist. First stop using betnovate immediately ,use sunscreen in the morning and moisturizer in the night and to advice you on further management I would like to see the photos, thank you.

Please stop using betnovate cream as it contains strong steroid which will cause serious side effects. Steroid induced pimples, photosensitivity that is sensitivity to sunlight, rosacea that is red face, atrophy that is thinning of skin, stretch marks, pigmentation, dryness, severe itching and increase hair growth on the face are many side effects of this. Reports of skin cancer are also there. Please don't use any such steroid containing fairness creams. You will require treatment to slowly reduce the steroid addiction of the skin.
