I am a diabetic since 20 yrs, the result in fasting is 160 post night 20 units of lantus at previous night at 1000 pm and pp is 300 after taking human mixtard insulin and 500 mg metformin. Please suggest.

The glucose levels mentioned (both fbg & pp) are quite high, suggesting present dosage of insulin is not adequate or you may need some additional drug and there is a need to look at your overall treatment, by which I mean is dietary pattern, extent of daily exercise, height & weight. Since there is no information on those, it is difficult to comment any further. It is necessary to provide following information < apart from fasting & pp glucose, hba1c%, lipid profile, bp readings, weight, height, dietary details, extent of daily exercise, serum creatinine & urea. I am sure you are aware at your age in a well controlled diabetes patient fbg should be < 100 mg or closer to 100 mg, pp 150 to 170 mg & hba1c% < 6.5%. Thanks.
